Are you prepared for Gen Z?

The next generation is preparing to make its debut in the work place. Who are they and what is their potential impact on the workplace?

Generation Z is one name used for the cluster of people born after the Millennial Generation or, the more widely used period, from the mid 2000s to the present day.

However, some have speculated that Gen Z isn’t a generational thing; rather, a “behavioral” aspect, and anyone can fall into the Gen Z category regardless of his or her age.

What generation do you really belong to? Take the quiz.

With all of the data and mobility imaginable available to us 24/7, the question for 2015 is how savvy the next generation of digital workers is going to be.

They may know how to use the latest apps and devices, but they haven’t had the training and experience to consider what happens to the massive amount of data they disperse.

22 percent of 20-29 year-olds admitted to losing a computer or mobile device that gave unrestricted access to work information to whoever found it! This is about 5 times higher than 50-65 year old workers. Nearly a third of twenty-somethings keep their passwords in plain sight.

Enterprises embracing the mobile era have 2 options:

BYOD: Bring your own device or BYOD has been under scrutiny since it started buzzing around the corporate world in 2011. While a great concept, skeptics are concerned about mobile security with employee devices as well as the reality of it actually saving corporate funds.

CYOD: Choose your own device or CYOD offers employees the opportunity to choose a company-approved device. These devices are usually distributed by the company, and retrieved if the employee is fired or resigns. This gives the company’s IT department more control over security, as it may be a much more convenient option.
